Hospitalization may lead to Clostridioides difficile infection, which is hard to cure. Alameh et al. have developed a multivalent mRNA - lipid nanoparticle vaccine targeting this bacterium. In animal models, the vaccine induces a strong and lasting immune response, protecting mice from infection without harming the normal microbial community.
